Double Trouble. A Tale of Two Republics: Eugenics, Genetics and History Repeating

“Love is patient, love is kind, ….

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails.”

I Corinthians 13: 4- 8

Love that hides or omits the truth does not protect.

Folks that have experienced the realities of war are all too familiar with the failures of human nature, human reasoning, and human science that disregard humility before God.

These “loving” folks, often believe that they are protecting their heirs by not disclosing the gruesome truth, patterns, and impending signs that signify the removal of God’s blessings on a people and the ensuing wars of men intent on controlling other men.

By hiding, omitting, or sanitizing the truth, these irresponsible, but well meaning folks, ultimately encourage the repetition of the same evils they sought to hide.

Whether it be an out of wedlock child, an abortion, a holocaust of racial “cleansing”, human experimentation (research), forced sterilization, euthanasia or extermination….

The Truth will be revealed.

The depravity of fallen human nature repeats again, and again for lack of a True Vigilant Love that prepares, preserves, and truly protects by teaching the Truth…and keeps teaching it.

These twin Republics have long been linked: The United States and Germany. In the 20th and 21st centuries this link has largely been through the sciences, particularly eugenics for societal and laborforce development.

Eugenics: The science and art of improving a race or breed by mating individuals with desired characteristics; sterilizing or eliminating those not deemed worthy of procreating. (Greek, meaning: well-born)

In 1879, eugenicist and educator David Starr Jordan joined the faculty of Indiana University. Jordan was president of Indiana University from 1884-1891 when he relocated to California to found Stanford University. Jordan is well known to Hoosiers who have visited IU for namesakes such as Jordan Hall, Jordan Avenue and in jest, Jordan River (creek).

Jordan is less known to Hoosiers for his publications promoting eugenics, such as The Blood of the Nation: A Study in the Decay of Races by the Survival of the Unfit, firstpublished in 1901, and republished in 1902 and 1910. In this publication Jordan claimed that human qualities and conditions such as talent and poverty were passed through the blood.

In 1904, the Eugenics Record Office (ERO) was established in Cold Spring Harbor, New York, by eugenicist, biologist, mathematician Charles Davenport, and eugenicist, biologist, Harry Laughlin, as an institution at which scientists could study genes, heredity, and human evolution. (Darwin continues to dine, especially when the non-governmental organizations such as the Rockefellers, Harrimans, and the Carnegies foot the bill.)

“Researchers carefully plotted the removal of families, bloodlines and whole peoples….The Rockefeller Foundation helped found the German eugenics program and even funded the program that Josef Mengele worked in before he went on to Auschwitz” and his infamous twin studies.

In 1907 Indiana passed the first eugenics-based compulsory sterilization law in the world.

Thirty-two (32) of the United States of America would enact compulsory sterilization legislation. California would perform the highest number of forced sterilizations.

A short list of names with ties to eugenics, genetics, euthanasia, experimentation, sterilization and Social Darwinism in the 20th Century include:

Charles Darwin, Sir Francis Galton (Darwin’s cousin), Herbert Spencer, David Starr Jordan, Indiana University, Stanford University, Yale, Harvard, Princeton, John Dewey, Woodrow Wilson, Theodore Brameld, Julian Huxley UNESCO, Charles Davenport, Harry Laughlin, The Rockefeller Foundation, the Carnegie Institution, the Harriman railroad fortune, IBM corporation, Thomas J. Watson, Paul Gosney, Paul Popenoe, Charles Goethe, Alexander Graham Bell, Vernon Kellogg, Luther Burbank, James Watson, Francis Crick, etc. in addition to the Weimer and Nazi eugenicists.

Upon returning from Germany in 1934, where more than 5,000 people per month were being forcibly sterilized, the California eugenics leader C. M. Goethe bragged to a colleague:

“You will be interested to know that your work has played a powerful part in shaping the opinions of the group of intellectuals who are behind Hitler in this epoch-making program. Everywhere I sensed that their opinions have been tremendously stimulated by American thought . . . I want you, my dear friend, to carry this thought with you for the rest of your life, that you have really jolted into action a great government of 60 million people.”

Eugenics researcher Harry H. Laughlin often bragged that his Laughlin’s Model Eugenical Sterilization Laws had been implemented in the 1935 Nuremberg racial hygiene laws.

In 1936, Laughlin was invited to an award ceremony at Heidelberg University in Germany (scheduled on the anniversary of Hitler’s 1934 purge of Jews from the Heidelberg faculty), to receive an honorary doctorate for his work on the “science of racial cleansing”. Afterwards, he proudly shared the award with his colleagues, remarking that he felt that it symbolized the “common understanding of German and American scientists of the nature of eugenics.”

We all know how well that turned out.

Or do we?

In fact many don’t know. Many are not familiar with the Weimer Republic (1918-1933), or eugenicists like Alfred Hoche, Karl Binding or Josef Mengele.

Nor are they connecting the realities of the Weimer Republic, the Nazi T-4 programs and the current data platforms and infrastructure in today’s American healthcare: Electronic Health Records, ICD-10 healthcare Diagnoses Codes International World Health Organization, DNA Registry for infants in the United States, Medicare and Social Security Disability Insurance, Home Health services, Elementary and Secondary Education (ESEA) Title programs, Medicaid Waivers etc. Education and Labor, P-Career, Statewide Longitudinal Database Systems, Networks of Knowledge, Workforce Data Quality Initiatives (WDQI), state Career Councils, My Data Initiative, Individual Education Plans, IEP’s for funding, research, “accountability” and systematic development of a work-centric culture, linked with and facilitated by state and federal social workers, bureaucrats, educrats, technocrats, administrators, politicians, and Earth First, Smarter Planet systems planners.

Folks wonder how the German people could have followed the Nazi schemes. Perhaps, this will help to reposition the mirror.

Let’s go back and look at the realities of the German Republic and how it relates to history repeating in America today.

Germany began its National Healthcare plan under Chancellor Otto Von Bismarck in 1883. Bismarck saw this as a way to ward off full-fledged socialism by providing a little socialism to supposedly prevent a fully virulent strain of socialism. I.e. Communism.

After WWI, Germany is called the Weimer Republic (1918-1933). Germany is in huge debt, hyperinflation, and massive unemployment (from 30-70%) and has lost many of its bravest and best.

By this time, the German doctors had become accustomed to cooperating with the government. The focus of medicine shifted from private practice to public health.

The physician began to be transformed into a functionary of the state-initiated laws and policies. Doctors began to see themselves as more responsible for the public health of the nation than for the individual health of the patient.

“It is one thing to be employed by an individual, and entirely another to be employed by the government.”

With the advent of social reformers and state social workers, “the doctor’s role changed from that of advocate, adviser, and partner of the patient to a partner of the state.”

“Where traditional individual ethics and Christian charity had once stood, the reformers posited a collective ethic for the benefit of the general population.

Private charity and welfare were nationalized.

(Thus the same methods repeating in the United States with the registry and control of “non-profits”, tax exempt, 501 (c) 3, i.e. Healthcare, Education, College, University, church and Para-church, Charity organizations joining the state and federal run “public sector” functionaries, now with student loan forgiveness attached to non-profit or public sector “employment.”)

The mentally ill, crippled and disabled, for example, …were returned to state institutions to become ultimate victims of state “solutions.”

With the world economic crisis of 1929, welfare state expenditures had to be reduced for housing, nutrition, support payments, recreation and rehabilitation, and maternal child health. What remained of the humanistic goals of reform were state mechanisms for inspection and regulation of public health and medical practice.

Economic efficiency became the major concern, and health care became primarily a question of cost-benefit analysis. Under the socialist policies of the period, this analysis was necessarily applied to the selection of strong persons, deemed worthy of support, and the elimination of weak and “unproductive” people. The scientific underpinning of cost-benefit analyses to political medial care was provided by the new fields of genetics and eugenics.”

And aided by the computer punch cards. The predecessors of today’s data highway, metrics mongers, analysts, researchers, committees, longitudinal prenatal to corpse data collection infrastructure of profiling and societal planning to save the planet and systematically design a 21st century laborforce.

For nearly six decades Americans have been fed a fodder of Darwinian evolution lies and have fashioned a shackling pit of debt and liabilities amounting to over $130 Trillion dollars.

Add that to the to the reality that American children today are being indoctrinated to believe the planet cannot sustain man and his manufacturing, and that a choice must be made between sustaining animals and the green earth or mankind.

These themes are center stage in education, media and global proficiencies testing and are played out in virtual world internet, gaming, and e-learning modalities such as the engaging simulation city/ global resource management, college entrance exams, and nationalized education’s computer embedded formative assessments.

While being assessed a reparations fine of 132 billion Reichsmarks or $ 26.3 billion dollars, German youth in the Weimer Republic were calculating the cost of caring for and rehabilitating the disabled, chronically ill, and non-labor producing members of society. German youth were instructed to calculate and compare the cost benefit ratios for the resources expended on the disabled, elderly, orphans, and homeless, as compared to the benefits of investing those same resources in physically and intellectually healthy “producing” members of society.

In 1920 neuropathologist Alfred Hoche and lawyer Karl Binding, published, Authorization of the Destruction of Life Unworthy of Life, Leipzig, Germany:

“If one imagines….a battlefield covered with thousands of dead youths…. and then our institutions for idiots and their care…., one is most appalled by…the sacrifice of the best of humanity while the best care is lavished on the life of negative worth.”

Guess whom the German physicians and youth selected when the time came for them to act in the “best interests” of their resources, their nation and their futures?

Today, we are at no loss to find those that would be labeled as “Disabled”, “feebleminded”, “unproductive”, diseased, deformed, blind, deaf, epileptic etc. These individuals, their parents, and their families flaunt these diagnoses like poster children. Those from Europe are shocked at American’s current flaunting and seeming seeking for a disabilities label.

This hardly seems wise in a nation that is in far more debt than the Weimer Republic or Nazi Germany; and with a youth and global youth culture indoctrinated into a fear of the planet destructing due to man’s carbon footprints and animals becoming extinct for lack of grazing land and increasingly becoming wards of the state, or functionaries of the state themselves, as previous generations have left them in a pit of debt and dependence on the “state.”

What will be the criteria for the next eugenics, genetics, euthanasia, forced sterilization programs, research, and rationing or elimination programs?

Who will define the desirable traits, skills, productivity, dispositions or “talents”?

Who will define the state religion, worship, and dependence?

Who will define, design, fund, and interpret the research programs…the assessment tests…the labor needs for the 21st century global economy?

Who will love enough to protect their heirs? And labor to preserve individual Liberty under God?

“The prudent see danger and take refuge,

But the simple keep going and suffer for it.”

Proverbs 27:12

It is most difficult to look in the mirror, to acknowledge the danger, when one has become an integral part of the system: receiving, administering and administrated by the bureaucracy.

It requires a true knowledge of history, honesty, and wisdom to recognize history repeating; And True Faith in and Fear of God, to look in the mirror and see the danger of human nature.

Parents, grandparents, and the church must teach the discernment and wisdom that restrains the evil bent of human nature before the next holocaust ensues. And first of all apply it to us.
